Prepare & ramp down:
- Prepare racks (cabling, power, network)
- Shutdown x% of performance, to be used as bridgehead
- Move & buildup “bridgehead” at target & test
Cutover
- Reduce the workload to 0
- Shutdown
- Logical cutover (Transfer active configuration)
- Startup “bridgehead”
- Validation
Ramp-up
- Disconnect unused nodes at source
- De-install servers,
- prepare & move the servers
- Install the servers at target
- Re-connect & bring into production
